Dear Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteYour video was very good. I miss you SO much right now, that I think I might cry. Your words remind me of all the good things we've done in class. I want to wake up on August 26, and go to your classroom. Alas I can't. I hate to leave you. SOB SOB SOB.
I miss you already,
James
Dear Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteThanks for everything that you've done and taught our class. You are the best teacher that I've ever had. I like the goodbye message that you put on the blog. It's funny how you said goodbye from you and Panda!
Your blogging buddy,
Jonah

@Mrs. Powers and Our Kindergarten (now 1st) Grade Buddies,
ReplyDeleteIt was so wonderful to be with all of you every Monday and learn together. We loved reading with you, practicing sight words, and counting to really high numbers!
Best of all, was the movie we made together, "Number Nonsense". It was a great production filled with large digits, fun facts, and humor.
We will never forget you!

@Riley from 2KM,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment! We had a fun last day, although it was hard to say goodbye.
You are welcome to explore any of our old posts and comment there, too. :-) You might like the pictures and videos that were posted back on June 1 when my husband visited our class. He was fly fishing up in Alaska and shared his trip with my students. The post is called Kodiak Grizzly Bear Facts.
I will continue to follow your class blog and leave comments. When does the school year end in Australia?
Thanks!
Mrs. Yollis
Dear Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteOnce again thank you for a great you. Right now I am commenting on my own laptop. I've set it up already and it is so awesome!
Even though I can't see the class everyday the blog is like seeing them. I love the idea!
Thanks again,
James
@James,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the purchase of a laptop computer! Wow! Are you thinking you might start a blog? What kinds of things are you doing with it over the summer? Are you making any movies? Let me know if you need any tips or help.
It is so nice to have a comment come in. A few other students have left one, too. We even got one from Riley @ 2KM yesterday!
I agree with your comment, "Even though I can't see the class everyday the blog is like seeing them." This blog keeps us together.
Your blogging buddy,
Mrs. Yollis
Dear Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. I have been making movies with my laptop. My brother and I do a bit of comedy. Another cool thing about my webcam program is that I can change my voice. I sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks!
I have been doing a tennis camp over this summer. I haven't gone out of town because we adopted a new puppy and we're not ready to leave him somewhere without my family.
I'm not making a blog, but I love being part of this one!
Thanks again for the comment,
James
Dear Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to tell you that my dog, Bella, past away while I was in the Sierra Mountains. The campsite we had was so pretty and fun filled, while we were there.
My Mom, Kelsey, Brian, Brent, and I are going to Yosemite in two weeks. Have you ever been to Yosemite?
From,
Emily :-)

@Emily,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear the news about your dog, Bella. Pets are like family members...we love them so much.
Sounds like you are doing quite a bit of adventure travel! Love it! Yes, I have been to Yosemite National Park. It is a spectacular place to see wildlife and hike. My favorite hike was up to the top of Bridal Veil Falls. (I think that was the name.)
Have a great time, say hi to your family, and keep on commenting! :-)
Mrs. Yollis
@ Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteWe saw Bridal Veil too! The valley near it was the place that the Miwok Indians practiced burning meadows. I do not know why, but that information was from a tour guide. Have you been to Yosemite Falls?
From,
Emily :-)
@Emily,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see you visiting and commenting on our blog even though school is out! You are great! I hope your family is well, especially your siblings (a.k.a. my former students) Brian, Brent, and Kelsey! ☺
Yes, I have visited Yosemite Falls. My husband and I hiked to it when we were there. Did you know it is the highest measured waterfall in North America? It is! It measures 2,420 feet from the top of the upper falls to the base of the lower falls. The ranger told us it is best to see it in late spring when the water flow is strong because of the snow melt. We were there at the end of summer, and it was still spectacular to see.
What kinds of things did you do in the National Park? Did you see any of Badger Claws’ animal friends? Share a fact or two!
Love,
Mrs. Yollis
hi my name is Jamie and I am from room8 at melvilleroom8.blogspot.com
ReplyDeletethank you for the commint it mout be cool to go down to Minnesota thats the first time I have heard that name.What does a brook could you tell me what it means.
Jamie age,12

@Jamie from Melville Room 8,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting our website. I enjoyed visiting your class site and leaving some information to help your class learn about important rivers.
Yes, the state of Minnesota is a beautiful place with many lakes, one of which is where the Mississippi River begins. In fact, Minnesota has so many lakes, its nickname is "Land of 10,000 Lakes". I will be there on vacation this summer and perhaps I'll drive up to Lake Itasca again!
You ask me what a brook is. A brook a small stream or narrow river.
I just got back from a trip to the Arctic Circle in Alaska. While I was there I went fishing on a beautiful river called the Kobuk River. It was about 280 miles long (451 km) and meandered in a westward direction toward the Arctic Ocean. There were many oxbow bends. Oxbow bends are U-shaped bends in a river. We caught several sheefish and Arctic graylings.
Keep up the great work in school!
Your friend,
Mrs. Yollis

Dear Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteYou are the best teacher I've had and the AlphaSmart computers have helped me on my typing skills!
Thanks!
You have taught me so much over the year. For example,when writing a paragraph you don't talk to one person. Thanks for teaching me all that I know!
Your old student,
Lexi
@Lexi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving such a nice comment! I loved being your teacher and watching you learn and grow! :-)
Have you had a good summer? Any interesting adventures you could share?
Your friend,
Mrs. Yollis
@Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteWe saw two deer, but I am suprised we did not see a bear! We almost saw one when we were on a bus coming back from river rafting. Someone said, " Bear!" but we missed it because we were on the opposite side of them.
I was doing surf camp for a while. When the session ended I was sad.
Taylor G. and I are doing an art camp now. The activities we do are: wood working, ceramics, baking, and cartooning.
From,
Emily:)
