At long last...Mrs. Yollis announces the winners of Family Blogging Month! :-)
Nearly 1,000 comments were contributed over the month!
Congratulations to Sean (156 comments),
Ruby (143 comments), and
Troy (135 comments)!
Each winner received a free kid's meal at a local restaurant, a fabulous crown to wear and enjoy, and a free post on the classroom blog!
This year exceeded every Family Blogging Month since Mrs. Yollis created the idea back on April 1, 2010! The participation, the quality of the commenting, the interaction and learning that transpired via this classroom blog and the 365 Project makes Mrs. Yollis beam with pride.
Not only are her students and their family members becoming superior writers, but they are also honing important digital skills like how to communicate and contribute on line, how to limit personal information on the Internet, and how to develop a dynamic digital footprint.
(To hone is a fancy verb that means to improve over time.)
Mrs. Yollis would like to personally thank all the parents and family members for their constant support. Your participation is the key to your child's educational success!
A special shout out is given to Troy's paternal grandmother for her exceptional participation!
Grandma Barb not only submitted photos to the 365 Project, like her Fabulous Fall Foliage, but she was a major contributor to numerous online conversations. We thank you, Grandma Barb!
Finally, Mrs. Yollis is proud to announce that November is Family Blogging Month post won Second Place for Most Influential Blog Post for 2014! The post has nearly 100 comments!
What was your favorite part of Family Blogging Month?
What are some digital skills that you have honed?
Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,
ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations to you all! There were so many of you who commented on the November is Family Blogging Month post! I read a few of the comments on your post, and then compared it with the post that I participated on when I was in Mrs. Yollis's second and third grade split. There were many differences and similarities, but overall, they were both fantastic! I really like the idea of family blogging month because you get to learn about all different sorts of cultures and ask so many different questions! I recently participated in the fifth grade international luncheon and learned about all sorts of different foods and culture! What do you think about family bogging month and what did you learn?
Your former student,
Jenna
Dear Mrs. Yollis and Class,
ReplyDeleteFamily Blogging Month was so fun. Our family and friends enjoyed connecting with everyone. Over winter break, Troy's Grandma from Wisconsin came to visit, and she got to meet Sean, one of her new blogging buddies.
Also, we all went out to dinner using Troy's certificate to celebrate all of the excellent blogging. Then, the bonus was when Mrs. Yollis posted this and Troy got to show his Grandma this photo of her wearing a crown. She said that she had never worn a crown before this! :)
We hope everyone had a nice holiday season. Best wishes for lots of fun blogging in 2015!
Sincerely,
Lisa (Troy's mom)
Dear Mrs. Yollis and Class,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the awards for the class blogs. It was a great team effort. Well done!
I thoroughly enjoyed not only Family Blogging Month but also just blogging in general with all of you. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to make new friends and learn new things as we discussed various topics in the blog posts.
I also learned how to use html code to make my writing more interesting or to emphasize certain words.
A special thank you for the blogging shout out! I truly appreciated it! &heart;
Happy Blogging!
Barb (Troy's Grandma from Wisconsin)
Dear Mrs. Yollis and Class,
DeleteTyping HTML symbols is tricky. In my previous post, I missed the "s" in hearts and did not get the heart symbol I was hoping for. If I add an "s" to the word heart in my HTML code, I should get the heart symbol I was hoping for. Let's try that again. ♥
Sincerely,
Barb (Troy's Grandma from Wisconsin)
Dear Mrs Yollis and class,
ReplyDeleteDuring the winter break I went to Lake Arrowhead with my family and
friends. when we were there we went to Snow Valley and went skiing. I was a little bit scared but my coach ★assured me that I will do great.
It was my first time skiing so I had to get evaluated★.
I was★ amused by the mountain that people went skiing off.
Little kids would ★glide down the mountains.
Have you ever gone skiing?
Warmly,
Kiano
