  1. Dear Mrs. Yollis'class,

The class looks so amazing! It looks like you have all been working so hard. It is nice to be sitting on the ocean floor to be posting this comment while looking at fish and a beautiful kelp forest. We learned that the Giant Saguaro cactus has many animals living in it. The cactus grows up to 50 feet tall. We really enjoyed looking at all of the biography projects and learning about all of the famous people that helped shape our history.

We are off to watch our middle school children play in their end of the year band concert tonight also. We really enjoyed checking out all of the activities and work that you do in this class.

    Hello Mrs Yollis and class,

What a fun and colorful classroom you have created! It's hard to choose one part that I most enjoyed...but I have to say I really loved everyone's creativity and participation with the Biography Timeline. I know Jake and I had fun creating his diorama. It was a great project to learn about history and to be able to have fun with some parts of the project as far as interjecting some made up facts.

    Thank you for sharing!

    Sincerely,

    Lisa (Jake's mum)

  4. Dear Mrs. Yollis,
What a lovely classroom environment tons to see and learn about. I enjoyed the Ocean Habitat as I admired all the beautiful fish. My favorite coloration of a fish is the Advertising coloration. Thanks so much for a wonderful time and learning experience.

If I didn't know better I'd think I wandered into a fifth grade class.

  6. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I was very impressed with your presentation of the class projects. Trey gave me a great tour of the class. He showed me not only his project but those of his peers. I would like to congratulate each and every student for their hard work. One of my favorite was the Biographies Projects. I enjoyed all of the biographies and am so proud of Trey for the Mr. Hershey biography. I want that chocolate bar! Congratulations to all Mrs. Yollis' class.

    Sincerely,
    Trey's Dad (Mizrrahim, Jr.)

    Dear Mrs. Yollis and Class,

What a terrific time we had at Open House. The classroom is decorated with so many amazing projects! I can't believe how much you have learned in third grade.

My favorite project was the Biography Timelines. The creativity of each one of the students in your class is off the charts! It was my favorite project because we got to learn so many interesting facts about some very important people in history.

A special thank you to Mrs. Yollis for her dedication and hard work!

  9. Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,

I really enjoyed visiting your classroom tonight at Open House. Everything looks so nice, you must have put a lot of work into it. My favorite part of all was the Ocean Habitat. It was amazing! I wish that I had one of those hanging up at my house. I took lots of pictures so that I can remember it. I also really liked all of the biography projects. It looks like you all really learned a lot about your Incredible People!

We are so proud of you for winning the Digital Voice Award. Congratulations!

    Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,

What a spectacular open house! We can't believe that the school year is almost over. We are very impressed with all the work that the class has done this year. I think Alexandra knows her way around a computer better than I do now.

I can't really say what was my favorite project during the open house, because they were all fabulous. I must say, I was very impressed with the Ocean Habitat and those colorful fish. I learned that some fish have Disruptive Coloration. Alexandra explained that fish have different colors and patterns which helps protect them from predators.

We are very thankful that Alexandra has such an amazing teacher this year. We really appreciate everything that you have done with the students this year.

    Sincerely,
    Adrian and Lysandra (Alexandra's parents)

We are so impressed by your class. The classroom is filled with so many amazing projects and quality writing. We loved the Picasso Origami project, the Desert Habitat board, the Money Stories, the Ocean Habitat Corner, and the Delicious Decimals. It is very evident that you and the kids worked very hard at achieving such wonderful work. We feel so blessed to have Aidan as a part of your classroom.

Hello Mrs. Yollis and your fabulous class,

Thank you for such a delightful time and the wonderful tour through Room 12! I've learned so many fun facts and everywhere I turned, I saw AMAZING artwork! I would like to first congratulate your class and blogging buddies on your Digital Voice Award for your post of "Our World, Our Stories" as well as the Digital Voice Award for Best Overall for Elementary School Blog. You guys and gals are ROCKSTARS!

You can tell that every project displayed in the class was done with so much effort, dedication and detail. If I would have to pick one project to be my favorite, I choose the "Delicious Decimals" because not only do I love decimals and anything to do with math, but I LOVE ice cream as well. A fact that I learned about decimals is that they are apart of a number (the numbers after the decimals are the numbers in between two whole numbers-example: 2.75 is between 2 and 3).

Thank you for letting me enjoy your classroom in person and in cyberspace.

    All the best,
    Patty (Ellie's mom)

Kudos to all the students and double kudos to Mrs. Yollis for her unwavering dedication and commitment to teaching!

  16. Dear Mrs. Yollis' class,

The room looks fantastic! It is so hard for us to pick which project we loved the best. We would have to say the three-dimensional shapes paragraphs. Everyone's cursive is so beautiful. It is obvious that you have all practiced for many hours.

    Sincerely,

    Gregg, Tara, Royce & Tabby

  19. Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,

I love everything happening in your classroom! It is so much fun to step into your world for a little while. If I am forced to pick one project as my favorite, it would have to be all of the wonderful biographies! I like the way they were displayed in chronological order. Thank you for sharing a little piece of your days with us.

  21. To Mrs. Yolis's Class;

Our favorite project from the class was seeing all of the students art on the walls and the biographies that was placed on their desk. What we learned is that so much writing and hard work has been done through out the year. Great job!!!!!

  23. Dear Mrs Yollis and Grade 3
I'm sure you all looked back at your year of learning with a lot of pride. I know, from following you on your blog, that you have worked hard all year long!
Your habitat displays look amazing, I think they are my favourites.

I also want to say that we enjoyed your part of the Tale trail story. The children had to do a bit of quick learning about Benjamin Franklin to understand the story connection!
We had fun looking for the writer's choices that you used, such as alliteration!

Do you have any more end-of-the-school-year events planned for the next few weeks?

    warm wishes from
    Mrs McKenzie

Wow what an wonderful display of work you have all done for your open house. I loved every aspect, best of all how you set up each section in your classroom. I want to come back to school and be in your grade Mrs Yollis!

It was wonderful to see all the photos of many students with huge smiles. This proves to me that the students have had an awesome time learning and growing as individuals.

Thank you Mrs Yollis for sharing your open house down under too I thought it was just awesome.

  25. Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,

If only we were closer so I could have visited your stunning displays for Open House 2012. Did I see an Aussie flag in the background? :)

The family photos look wonderful. All of the smiles tells me everyone enjoyed Open House. I know I would have enjoyed it as well.

It seems your school year is coming to an end. You have all achieved so much this year. I am proud to be a friend of your class. :)

P.S. The letter I sent to you from James Cook led me to making a new post for local schools. It details the visit of the Endeavour replica to our local Eden's Twofold Bay. A link in it refers to the letter from Cook. As well as the letter link, the post includes photos, a slideshow and a video of the ship's departure. Here is a link to the post...
