  1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

We loved the holiday party! My favorite station was decorating cupcakes. My cupcake got so tall it started to look like The Leaning Tower of Pisa. Then it collapsed.:(

My mom my enjoyed working at the snow globe station. She learned about using glycerin. We squirted a blob of it in the jars so the glitter falls down like snow. We are displaying our snow globe on the kitchen table.

    Sincerely,
    Collin and Shannon

    1. @ Collin and Shannon,

I loved all of the stations, but I think my favorite was the cupcakes. Watching everyone create was amusing to me! I like how you said yours got so high it was like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. What a great visual image!

Yes, the glycerin really helped make the snow globes look more realistic. The glitter/snow fell slowly, just like the real stuff.

      Have a wonderful winter break!

      Warmly,
      Mrs. Y♥llis

  2. Dear Mrs Yollis,
I just loved watching your Photo Peach slide show it seemed like your class had an awesome holiday party. Making those Snow Globes look awesome I would love to make one. Maybe one day I will make one. My art teacher who is American taught my class how to make a snow globe in a card. Speaking of Holidays I am on school holidays. In 2013 I will be in Grade 5 YAY.
    Merry Christmas.

    From,

    BB.

    1. @ BB,

I'm so glad you enjoyed the party photos. We played a Christmas CD from Australia, so it was kind of like you all were with us. :-)

The snow globes were easy to make. Get a jar. Hot glue a figure or two to the inside of the lid. Fill the jar nearly to the top with water. Add some glitter and a squirt of glycerin. Screw on the lid, flip, and you have yourself a snow globe!

Wow! Fifth grade? Is that the highest level at your school?

      Your pal,
      Mrs. Y♥llis

  3. Dear Mrs Yollis and class,

Wow what an amazing fun day you all must have had at your holiday party. Your slide show was awesome. It was great to see all your smiling faces and some of you wearing Santa hats.

I did notice at the end of you slide show you had the book Polar Express. This is my all time favourite movie and as a matter of fact when I finsh writing this comment BB and I are going to watch the movie Polar Express.

I would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and I hope you have heaps of fun with your family and friends.

    Merry Christmas!

    Cheers AA :)

It was a fun party! As I said to Bianca, we had some Australian Christmas music playing so you are never far from our thoughts!

We have been reading lots of Van Allsburg books, so The Polar Express fit right in! I've never seen the movie. I'll have to check it out!

Wishing you and your family a wonderful new year!

  4. @ Mrs. Y♥llis,

I think that this holiday party was the best party since preschool!

I liked all of the stations but the one that I really liked was playing dreidel. I was gimmill girl!
I put my snow globe on the windowsill in my room.

What was your favorite station? What did you get most at the dreidel table?

    Happy holidays,
    Gr♥ce

I'm glad you enjoyed the party so much! I had a wonderful time as well!

All of the stations were fun for me, but I liked the cupcake one the best. I enjoyed watching people create their designs.

      Happy New Year!

  5. Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,

Cupcakes, snow globes and "Polar Express"... What a combination full of fun you have had.

Christmas day is now so close. My town's population is growing as tourists start arriving for their summer vacation. Today reached over 80F (27C) in my town but I heard it was expected to reach 101F (39C) in Melbourne and some places in Australia were expecting 107F (45C).

I think this will be another warm Christmas Day for us here in Australia. :)

Enjoy your break. I wonder who you will come to know when the new 4KM and 4KJ start their school year in 2013?

A million thanks for all of the support you have given to our blog over the year! Between you and AA & BB, we have much to be thankful for!

Wow! It sounds like you have had some pretty hot weather down there! Since it is winter here, the temperatures are cooling. However, here in southern California we have mild winters. Today it is gorgeous out, so we will be heading out for a nature hike with Buck!

We are certainly looking forward to meeting the new 4KM and 4KJ students when they start in February. It seems like time is flying by...how can they be starting all over again!

      Happy New Year!

      Sincerely,
      Mrs. Y♥llis

  6. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I put my snow globe in my parents room. I had a blast at our party. The party was the best party I had for a very long time. The cupcakes were delicious. Usually I get the most gelt when I play dreidel, but this time the gimel Grace won the game.
Do you like to play dreidel?

    Your student,

    Ryan

I am so glad that you enjoyed the party! The parents put a lot of effort into it, and they did a spectacular job!

Yes, Grace certainly dominated over at the dreidel table. That's how it goes sometimes. If we'd had more time, the luck would have shifted around!

I do enjoy playing dreidel, but I was busy taking pictures so I couldn't compete!

      Have a wonderful New Year!

      Mrs. Y♥llis

  7. Dear Mrs.Yollis,

I remember last year when we had the party. When I saw the video I remebered playing with the dreidl and with the chocolate coins. I just can't wait for Christmas tomorrow. At my aunt's house we're going to have a party.

    2. @ Mrs. Yollis,

I had a great time at my aunt's house. We had secret santa with some of my cousins. We all got to exchange the gifts with our secret santa. We played loteria which is a game similar to bingo. There was mexican music and different kinds of mexican food such as enchiladas, beans, rice, tamales, and chiles rellenos.

      Sincerely,
      Trey

So glad to see you on the blog, Trey!
