    Happy birthday to your blog!

I ♥ed reading this post as I almost felt like I was there at the party with you all.

How fantastic that I share my own birthday with that of your blog! I turned 29 and your blog turned two! :)

I just loved seeing so many familiar student faces from 2008-2010 and I'm so glad I've been with you on your blogging journey since early 2009.

33,000 visitors and 3,800 comments is an amazing achievement!

How terrific that you could celebrate with a beautiful cake courtesy of Lexi's family. I'm so glad Panda got a taste!

I just cannot decide what my favourite post on your blog has been. I have got so many good ideas from you and your blog like the Family Blogging Month Challenges and the instructions on how to write quality comments and use HTML.

I hope your blog continues to have many more birthdays to come!

  6. Mrs Yollis and class, my warmest congratulations on such a wonderful achievement in such a short space of time, I loved the 'history' aspect of this post to include your former students. 33,000 visits in three years is such a wonderful figure but then given the quality of the material that you post and how wonderful that it is I am not surprised in the slightest! I really love anything that involves Panda in your posts as no matter what kind of day that I am having it always, always makes me smile! A cake is a great way to celebrate but I would also like to say congratulations from the other side of the world, we have enjoyed working with your classroom this year and look to do so again!

Thanks for your kind wishes! We had such a fun time getting together and reminiscing about the good times blogging! The kids from each class had a great time talking and making speeches about their memories of the blog and what were some special moments for them.

I enjoy the comparisons too. It is always interesting to see what people are learning and how they approach certain subject. Students and teachers get to learn through blogging!

We are very happy to have met you! ♥ My class speaks fondly of their 2KM and 2KJ blogging friends!

I just loved watching you slide show of seeing past and present blogger.

What a wonderful cake and I loved the fact you did celebrate in style with a cake.

Now as for my favourite post I have to admit I have two.
The first is Birdy and the second the Death Valley post. They were just wonderful.

It has been wonderful seeing the enthusiasm in the students for sharing their journey in education through the blog. Personally, it has been a wonderful experience for me and my daughter Ava. We miss your class and may your amazing blog always be as exciting as it has been in the past.
It is hard to say which blog was my favorite, but if I had to pick one it would be the Traveling Map.

  12. Dear Mrs. Yollis,
Congratulations to you and your students on your second blog birthday. I have been following you and Kathkeen McGedy from Geelong Australia for about a year. Both of you have fantastic blogs. Your passion for kids and learning comes out in every post. Hats off also to you and your class on your efforts with the Ugandan Global Project. A wonderful way for kids to make a difference in the world. At our school we are using Read to Feed from Heifer Intersational as a way of giving students the opportunity of making a difference. I love the projects I see taking place in your classroom. A big fan of yours from San Antonio Texas. Rich Cantrell

    and

    Visit Death Valley National Park!

are big favorites of mine too. I was so afraid that little Birdy would not survive! Having the story published on the blog allows me to go back and relive the events! Death Valley was so spectacular! To have beautiful lands like that set aside by the government for all to enjoy is wonderful. We did really get lucky with the weather and the wild flowers. I don't think it is always like that!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a thoughtful comment! You are the one who first introduced me to the ♥! Can you believe all of the fun HTML codes the kids now use in their comments? You started it!

The Mrs. Yollis’ Class Visits North America! shows what a great program the giant traveling map series is! Did you know that we are getting another one in January? Africa will be in the MPR for one week!

Thanks so much for your support and your kind words! Educational blogging is so powerful and can be integrated into any subject!

Thanks for your thoughts about the Ugandan Global Project. Not only were all the students able to learn about new places and people, but they were able to make a big difference in the lives of some young Ugandan students. We are quite fortunate in our community, and for the students to be able to use their resources to help other kids is remarkable. Good luck with your project Read to Feed. Blogging opens up the world for us to learn from one another and help each other!

    @ Penny,

Good luck with your presentation! You may certainly share our blog at the inservice. In 24 years of teaching, I have never seen a project more valuable that educational blogging. I hope you get some teachers to join in!

Unfortunately , :-( I have never been to a blog birthday before, until I happened to be in your class. :-)

All of the posts of the blog are my favorite but if I had to choose a particular one it would probably be the post about the baby hummingbird released. My little brother adores that one.

  20. Dear Mrs. Yollis' Class,

What a fabulous celebration you had, and for a very good reason! I think I first found your blog when it was about 3-4 months old, and I have followed it ever since.

In fact, your blog inspired me to switch from a web-page to a class blog, and I am so glad I did! It has been a fantastic experience communicating with you all (and all of our other blogging buddies) through the posts and comments. I have learned so much from blogging with you.

It is hard to pick just one favorite post, but I really like the traveling map posts. Another of my favorites was the collection post from last year. My favorite so far this year was the one about how to leave a quality comment.

    Happy Birthday to you (Cha-cha-cha)!

  28. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

    Happy birthday blog!
I loved how we sang happy birthday to the blog. It was kind of funny to me that we said it to the blog and not to a real person. That really interested me. I thought that the frosting was really good and that Lexi's mom did a good job picking it out. This is my first blog birthday that I have ever gone to.

I really like the posts that Nono does in Italy. He always puts interesting pictures, and more.

I also loved how Nono came to our classroom. I thought that was very cool because he brought us chocolate and things that we can hang up in our room, like the colorful banner. Again, happy birthday blog!

I have two questions for you:
    (1) Did you like celebrating the blog's birthday?

    (2) What is your favorite post that Nono does about Italy?

    Best of all,
