  2. The best thing that I like about spring is the fact that plants start growing again. In New Zealand however as we're on the other side of the world we're just approaching our Autumn (Fall in the USA I think). So we're preparing for Winter!

  3. @ Jake (from Mrs. Ranney's class),

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! The spring weather has been so nice! What a change from all that rain! Are you going to go skiing over the break?

    @ Mr. Webb, (from NZ)

Yes, the best think about spring is that the plants and trees start to grow. :-) I was walking around in my backyard this morning and discovered a daffodil! It must have been one that I forgot to dig up last winter! One of my orchids is exceedingly happy and has produced several spikes. I just love springtime!

It is so hard to comprehend that our friends in the other hemisphere are now in fall and are heading into winter. How cold does it get where you are in the winter?

    Mrs. Yollis

  4. Happy Spring Everyone!

What a gorgeous day in beautiful California. The sky is clear, the air temperature is 76°F (24°C), and many trees and plants are starting to come to life! The local hills are a blanket of green after all that winter rain. In addition, purple and pink lupine are popping up on the hill behind the school. So lovely!

I'm looking forward to getting outside for some exercise! Poor little Violet (my bike) has been stuck in the garage for months and is raring to go! Tomorrow I am going to the local nursery to get some herbs and flowers to plant in my garden. Can you tell I'm happy about the vernal equinox?

    :-)

  6. Dear Mrs. Yollis' Class,

We had a spectacular first day of spring here in Connecticut. The temperature almost got up to the 70's, so everyone was out in their t-shirts, shorts, and sandals.

After our long, cold winter spring is truly a magical time. The gray turns to vivid green, the birds start coming back, frogs are peeping, flowers are bursting out everywhere, and everything seems to glow. It's impossible not to smile.

You can probably tell that I love spring!

    Mr. Salsich

  8. Happy Spring Everyone!
With the wonderful weather we have today, I'm really enjoying the first day of spring. First of all, this morning I took a 3 mile walk at a local park. When I was finished with my walk, I visited the nursery to purchase flowers and tomatoes to plant in my backyard. Finally, Mr. Ranney and I worked the rest of the morning and all afternoon in our yard. He was picking the last of our oranges and trimming the tree, while I planted what I had bought. We did stop for a pleasant lunch break and enjoyed feeding our backyard birds and squirrels as well.
Now it's almost dinner time, and we're getting ready to barbecue some juicy burgers!
I hope you're all enjoying the first day of spring as much as I am!
    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Ranney

  9. Dear Mrs Yollis;
The best thing about spring are the colours in the garden and the trees become green again. We wear light comfortable clothes. We are in Buenos Aires Argentina, and we have started fall (autumn) getting ready for winter!

  10. @ Miss Ale and her Y6 students,

Thanks for visiting our blog and for your springtime thoughts. Yes, if it is spring for us...it must be autumn for you in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Blogging has certainly helped my students understand the hemisphere differences!

    Which season is your favorite?

  11. Hello!
Thank you for your prompt reply!
Now it is raining "cats and dogs" It has been rather warm these past days, almost 30ºC as a maximum and 14ºC minimum. The rainy season starts together with autumn. It's good for the countryside but rather gloomy!
    Our favourite season is summer!

  13. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I am really glad spring is here because it gets hotter. Sometimes when it gets hot enough in the spring I get to go swimming in my pool. My favorite spring activity is playing hockey on my backyard sport court. I didn't see your website bloom yet, but I am after this comment. What is your favorite spring activity?

    Sincerely,
    Nick

  14. Dear Mrs Yollis and students,
spring is the best time as every thing in the garden appears to look so beautiful with the different colours and smells. In spring Bianca and I just love to go for long walks and see the different colours that it brings and hear little new born baby birds cheep in the nest. At this moment it is autumn here in Australia and the weather here is very nice but the days are getting shorter and night time seems to arrive earlier. Enjoy your lovely days of spring weather from AA.

  15. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I thought that the flower that you put on the blog post was pretty because it has my favorite color on it, which is pink. What is your favorite thing about spring?

    Sincerely,

  16. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I never knew that when the earth spins, it changes from day to night. The fantastic video was interesting because it switches to a beautiful red robin, to earth twirling, to day and night, and the earth traveling around the burning sun.

I enjoy the spring climate because winter is freezing and spring is fair and warm.

    Sincerely,
    Sam

  17. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Spring is one of my two favorite seasons. On Saturday, March 20th I mostly had fun playing with my neighbors for a few hours. The vernal equinox is very interesting because the earth has twelve hours of daylight and twelve hours of night.

    Trent:)

  18. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Your post about spring is very interesting. It looks like your website is blooming in a very big spring way.

My favorite season is spring. It is my favorite because spring has nice weather, and it is not too hot or not too cold.

My mom and I are going to plant a garden in our back or front yard.

Do you like spring or a different season?

  19. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I was waiting for spring to come and could not wait any longer! My favorite part of the video was the cute little robin hopping in the snow. The fact that the earth tilts up to the sun is interesting. I also never knew that the sun plus, its orbit goes higher into space than it usually is in space.

It is really creative to use Power Point to make the banner.

    Richie

  20. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I like the post about spring, and your website is blooming in a BIG spring way.

My favorite season is spring. It is my favorite season because The weather is perfect, and it is not too hot or not too cold. What is your favorite season?

My mom and I are going to plant a vegetable garden in spring. We do not have a garden right now, and I think our new garden is going to be a big success. Do you have a garden?

    Warm regards,
    Sydney

  21. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I found the video about the Vernal equinox fascinating! I had forgotten exactly how the earth's rotation affects the amount of sunlight we get.

Do you know what the summer solstice is? It is the longest day of the year. The winter solstice is the shortest day of the year. The summer solstice is when the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun. In the winter we are tilted away from the Sun. Science is so exciting!

  23. Dear Mrs.Yollis,

The best thing I like about spring is that you get to plant lots of plants! One plant that I planted was a sun flower. I like spring because it is close to summer. I like spring because I get to have play dates with friends, such as Leanne. I hope you and you class mates loved my comment!!!

  24. Hello Mrs. Yollis,
It's me, Eric! I really like your class blog, it is unique, and I like how this post has a question. I like spring because the flora begins to come alive once again and it's the closest season to summer.
    Why do you like spring?
