A Rainy Fun Friday!

Students who complete all of their work and demonstrate that they are responsible third graders earn free-time during Fun Friday!

We were ready for some fun after being stuck inside all week.
Check out the final reading on our rain gauge!

Sculpting is always a popular activity!

Students had a whale of a time!

Someone etched his name in the clay.

Others created beds or fantastic scenes!

Our story for the week was
The Mysterious Giant of Barletta,

That folktale was an inspiration for two artists.

Equally popular was Fun with Magnets!

Who can use the encyclopedia and share something about magnets?

Who can teach us something about Tomie de Paola?

  1. Dear Mrs Yollis,

The sculpture I made with some friends is Badger Claws's village. I made the tree and a giant boulder. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish. But it was still great.

  2. Dear Gal,

It sounded like you had a lot of fun making Badger Claws's village. Maybe I will sculpt a scene from the Badger Claws book this Friday. Was your sculpture in the blog post? How much fun was it to make all that? How long do you think it took you to make the giant and the boulder.

    Your classmate,
    Kayla

  3. Dear Mrs. Yollis,
It sounds like a lot of fun sculpting in class. What were some of the sculptures you made. Great job on winning the best blog. I can not believe you have such a big map of the United States.

    Jake

  4. Dear Kayla,
You asked how long it took to make the giant boulder. It only took me about two minutes. My sculpture was not on the post. You also asked how much fun it was I had a blast. What did you do in Fun Friday?

  5. Dear Mr's Yollis' class,
I thought your sculptures of were amazing. At the bottom of the post you asked if we knew anything about Tommy De Paola. I know that in everyone of his books, he hides a picture of a dog. Can you find it?

  6. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I love Fun Friday because you have a lot of selections to play with. My favorite station at Fun Friday is clay! I made the whale that you posted a picture of. I adore the clay cause you can make anything. You can even squeeze it and have it look like nothing, and you can still call it art.

    Sincerely,
    Ben

  7. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

During Fun Friday I was sculpting with the clay with Anais. We created a scene with a tree, a lake with fish and a boat in it.

Something I noticed with Trent's clay is that for his last "t" in his name he did a division sign. That was very clever!

    Your friend,
    Kendall
