♥ Valentine Sing-along ♥

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mrs. Yollis and her class collaborated with a teacher friend Mr. de Haan in Seattle, Washington, to record a song just for you. Together, yet miles apart, they created a heart-felt Valentine song!

The lyrics are below, so sing-along with us!

L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore

Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you!

Thank you Mr. de Haan for being our accompanist!

Los Angeles to Seattle is approximately 960 miles.

  1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I already looked at it and loved it. It was very fun rehearsing for the song. My part was being the paper E. My helpers were Chloe and Ali, and they helped me color. I liked the part where it went like this: "Take my heart and please don't break it". It was neat for me being in the back round holding a E.

    What was your favorite part?

    Sincerely,

    Bryce

    1. Dear Bryce,

I played the paper L. I liked being L because I am the first letter. However, if I had to hold the L too long, my arms would have gotten really weak. That's why I did not want to have the letters up too long.

      Did your parents sign along?

  2. Dear Class,
Just LOVEd your Valentine song! You are all so cute and adorable. I watched it first thing in the morning and you all started my day off on a song. What a great way to start the day! You encouraged me to think of all the Valentine songs I could remember. Here is a very old one, "My Funny Valentine" from the musical Babes in Arms. Here is the YouTube with Frank Sinatra. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9i8vJ0tNDLA.
Hope you all have a fabulous day!
    Happy Valentine's Day!

This is one of the best gifts to start a beautiful, lovely day! You guys did an amazing job with the video and each one of you did your part so gracefully.

I like how you made the word "LOVE" using ipads, with your hands and feet, so creative!

Hope you all have a great Valentine's day in class and with your families and friends!

    Dear Mrs. Yollis and Class,

    We absolutely

    Love the
    Outstanding
    Valentines day video! It was
    Excellent!

It looks like you all put a lot of time into making the video. We enjoyed singing along with you.

How many times did you practice the song before you recorded the performance? How many times did you video the performance?

I agree. It is an amazing post on Valentine's day! Have you ever seen a post like our post? It took a long time to get the post exactly right. It was fun rehearsing for the show.

    2. Dear Mom and Dad,

I l♥ve this video too! I danced with Slither, my snake, and he is red. As you know, all snakes have scales. (Slither's scales are stickers.) Slither's scales are yellow and lime green.

Valentine's day was wonderful. We ate candy and Mrs. Yollis gave us candy hearts to eat and to play some candy heart math. What did you do while we were at school having a mini party?

I thought Mr. de Haan's music was LOVEly! He used a kazoo, a pencil to tap, and when we were dancing, he was singing. I thought the music was so good that it sounded like Nat King Cole's!

      Love,
      Heather

  10. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

My family and I decided to leave a comment together! My Grandparents, Parents and Aunt Betsy loved the video we made.

We watched the video first thing this morning and could not think of a better way to start Valentine's Day.

We think it is very cool that technology allows you to create music with people in a different part of the country.

    Thank you,
    Peter, Amy and Peter Sr.

I also think music is a wonderful way to start the day. I also agree that it's very cool that technology allows you to create music with people in a different part of the country. Mr. Haan did a great job. I especially liked when everyone danced under the bridge during his solo.

  12. Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,
It is one day past Valentine's Day, and this morning I watched your collaborative classroom sing-along. It was such a great beginning to a new day! The song (along with the choreographed messages) was a perfect choice as a means to celebrate Valentine's Day. The beauty of the lyrics, however, is that they convey a special message which is appropriate for everyday of the year. They can be meant for everyone in our lives whom we love, be they the people or even our pets!

First I just watched the video, and then I replayed it and sang (rather loudly) along with it. Next, I had Collin's grandpa come in and view it. Finally, we both sang along with the class. It gave us both a good feeling to be able to be (in a way) a part of Collin's class, and it gave us a wonderful way to start our day. We want to thank you all for that. Do you hope to be able to do another sing-along in the future?

We also want to thank Mr. de Haan for the great job he did instrumentally accompanying the class. His work added to our enjoyment of the event.

    With sincere thanks,
    Marsha (Collin's grandmother)

    1. Dear Marsha,

I thanked Mr. de haan too! He is so nice to teach us that cool love song. Sadly, I was not at school that day, but when I got back I saw a copy of the song. LOVE is the funniest part.

What was the funniest part that you thought?

  14. Dear Mrs. Yollis' class,

A big thank you for making my Valentine's Day extraordinary. Like many moms that watched this, I cried as well. The lyrics were so meaningful and I loved how each student had a part. I especially liked the part with the "thumping heart". Can't wait to see your next exciting project!

  15. Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,

Thank you for the wonderful song and video! It melted my heart on Valentine's Day! I can tell you all worked hard on it.

I watched it while on a break from a meeting and I found myself singing it in the car the whole way home.

On Friday night, our family watched a movie together and sure enough, this song was the opening song of the movie!

Thank you again for brightening my day!

    Sincerely,

  16. Dear Mrs. Yollis and Mr. De Haan, and all other music lovers of the world,

Thank you for creating the music for our song! You did an incredible job.

Have you ever sang any other love songs?

Here is an example for what I think L.O.V.E stands for:

L is for the first time I looked at you.
O is the only heart you stole from me.
V is why you are very important to me.
E is not as important to me than you.

and that's what I think L.O.V.E stands for.

What do you think L.O.V.E stands for?

    ♥Lovingly,
    Chl♥e

  17. Dear Mr. de Haan,

Thank you for recording music for my class to use. I think it was very catchy! My favorite part was the kazoo because it was loud and at the right tune. My brother, Jack, loves music. Especially playing the guitar. His teacher used to be in a band. I also love music very much!

    Do you L.O.V.E. music?

  18. Dear Mr. de Haan,

Let me introduce myself, my name is Peter from Mrs. Yollis' class. You may know that she is a second and a third grade teacher, and I am one of her second graders. I loved the video because there was a long bridge that some people danced under. My job was to hold Bev and make it like she was alive.

Which part of the video did you enjoy the most?

  24. Dear Mrs. Yollis' Lovely Class,

I very much enjoyed watching your Valentine's Day video! Mallory was so excited to share it with us. I was impressed with all of your moves! How long did it take you all to learn the song?

We actually went out that night for a special Valentine's Day dinner and the song was playing at the restaurant. It made us think of you and smile!

Hope you all had a sweet Valentine's Day!

  25. Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,

I know that song! You had me humming along with you as you sang. I wouldn't have dared sing along as the sound would have spoiled your brilliant performance. What a treat it was to hear you perform.

Your backing music was interesting. When I listen to music in movies or in performances, I like to especially listen to how the music was made. Unless I'm mistaken, I hear guitar, a beat like a drum, a bass voice and could the other sound be kazoos?

What a bright and happy post to share. The only problem was I wasn't able to check until a week after Valentine's Day. I have a large backlog of wonderful blogs to visit. I always seem to be finding more incredible posts but your class is always one of my highlights. :)
