Mrs. Yollis Solves Room 8's Math Problem!

Our class is blogging buddies with the students at
Melville Intermediate in New Zealand. They taught our class the
Recently they asked for some help with a math problem.

Although school is out in the Northern Hemisphere, Mrs. Yollis tried to help them out by making a video.

MATH PROBLEM:
8 men and 2 boys need to cross a river. They have a canoe which cannot carry more than 1 man or 2 boys at one time. How many river crossing does it take to get everyone across?

What do you think of the solution?

Can you think of a way to solve it using algebra?
