Computer Science week coincides with the birthdays of two computer science pioneers. A pioneer is a person who is one of the first to enter a field of study or explore a new area of thought.

1. Ada Lovelace, born in England on December 10, 1815, is considered the world's first computer programmer.

    2.  Grace Hopper, whose birthday is December 9, 1906, was an American computer programmer and Navy rear admiral. She contributed to the development of the COBOL language and is credited with popularizing the term "computer bug" in the programming community.

Grace Hopper said, "To me programming is more than an important practical art. It is also a gigantic undertaking in the foundations of knowledge."

  1. @ Mrs. Yollis and class,

    Coding!

The Hour Of Code was awesome! Coding is a fun way of controlling or giving commands. During our Hour of Code, some people were doing the Minecraft game, and
some were doing the Star Wars game. There were a bunch of other options, too!

Not only is coding fun, but it’s also good to learn. Who knows, maybe someday you will make a robot controlled by code that will become the most impressive robot ever! It is good to know code.

What was your favorite topic to code in?
Do you like dragging commands they made, or do you like making your own commands?
    Have fun coding! :)

    Sincerely,
    N♦lan

  2. Dear Mrs. Yollis and class,

Coding is a fun way to give instructions to what you want to move. If it is fun friday or I have some free time, I sometimes do coding. There are all different topics for coding on Code.org, and it is hard to pick one to do. Some of my favorites are the sports one, the Minecraft one, and the Flappy bird one. In the sports one, you can move a hand or foot in the game to get to the ball and score. In the Minecraft one, you can build, mine, and attack bad guys. In the Flappy bird one, you click the trackpad on your computer to make the bird flap away of the obstacles. Or you can use code to make him do whatever you want. I think coding is a fun thing to do.

    Have fun coding!

    Sincerely,
    Nolan

  3. @ Mrs Yollis,

I think Global Play Day was a success. One Reason Global Play Day was awesome because we played all types of games. My favorite game that I played was Candy Land. I like Candy Land because every buddy smiles. Even though you lose it is still a fun game. As you can see Global Play Day was fantastic.

    From,
    Brianna
