Here is the code Elie used to create this game:

Here is Elie playing his game and narrating some of the elements. He used the Acer app called Kazam to make this screencast.

Did you win Elie's game? If not, try again!

What kinds of games have you created?

  1. @ Elie,

Wow! Congratulations! I must say, that crown looks mighty luscious on you! ;)

I am sitting on a bus in Jerusalem feeling so grateful for this online community and, in particular, for this blog post. It is so amazing to connect with you and your classroom from another part of the globe while far, far away! If it weren't for this post, I would have entirely missed your crowning. ;)

I concur with Mrs. Yollis that you are a fine, fine coder. I cannot wait to play your Java Script Game!

I have never created a game.

Elie, will you teach me how to code when I return? I would love that.

What, in your opinion, is the most challenging part of coding?

    Your blogging family,
    Liat (Elie's Mom)

I won your magnificently fantastic JavaScript game!
I love how if you get the Stormtroopers you actually get 100 points instead of losing the game.

I’ve also created a Star Wars game that if you get the Puffer Pig, you lose 1,000,000,000 points, and if you get the Mynock, you get 9,000,000,000 points. When you get the Mouse Droid you win! But if you get the Stormtroopers you lose. :-(

What other games have you coded? What games do you crave and desire on code.org?

    Welcome back to the blog!

One thing I have to say is that the crown IS pretty luscious. ; )

Coding this game was really fun. I learned a lot about computer programing, and I found out more about Javascript and its pluses. One fact about Javascript, it is the most used computer programing language in the world!

I made this particular game with various commands and events. For example, one command I used was the addCharacter command which adds a character of my choice. An event I used was the whenGetAll event which I can use to add points and play sounds.

What is your favorite coding language and why?

    Your friend,

    Elie

  5. @ Ellie,

I tip my hat to you for your win. You made it in top two in Family Blogging Month and made a game on code.org. I’m at the beginning level of coding, and I really think it is frustrating. I think that you are almost at the pro level due to your game creation!

At first I thought coding would really be easy, but on my first stage I found out it was difficult. I didn’t love coding for my first couple of days. The most difficult part for me was when you had to repair a robot by only using codes and letters on the body parts. Sooner or later, I learned that I loved to code even though it was rough.

How long do you think it would take for you to make a game?

  6. Dearest Payden,

Thank you for the spectacular comment!

One thing I have to say is that Family Blogging Month was intense. All month our peers were getting blog comments in by the minute, and everyone was competing for the three prizes. The free blog post of your choice (this is my post),
the free kids meal with your choice to pick from four local establishments, and a lovely crown with glitter on it. At the end, Nolan(#1), Dylan(#3), and I won. I really do thank you for the congratulations.

I can connect to what your saying about coding. Everything has to be PERFECT. If you misspell one word, your whole project is ruined and you have to fix it Immediately! Coding is really frustrating and stressful. But when you get the hang of it, you have a lot of fun.

If everyone tried to code, they would love it.

    Cordially,
    Elie

  7. Dear Elie,

I believe you are one outstanding java coder. One reason I think that is because you create such wonderful games. The game you created was not only fun, but it also tapped into the excitement everyone has about Star Wars. I watched several people play, but I am not advanced enough to compete with your high quality game. Another reason I think you are a fabulous coder is your clever artwork made with coding. For example, I saw you make a cute little Santa out of geometric shapes. Who knew you could make such a jolly fellow? I also saw you teaching others how to create. You're like a digital Mrs. Lowy! From my point-of-view, you are a quality coder with a big future ahead!

    Warmly,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

  8. Dearest Elie,

I think that you are clearly the best coder.

You have a great Javascript game. This game has been coded by yourself, with NO help. You coded this game with Javascript, with no “block building,” as I like to call it.

Another reason is, you create different masterpieces other than this. Your brain helps you code in Khan Academy, like when you coded a perfect Santa. Also, you create with many different types of coding language like, Javascript, Python, and CoffeeScript.

I am convinced that you are the best coder ever.

    Sincerely,
    Dylan B.
