Mrs. Yollis created the idea of Family Blogging Month back on April 1, 2010. The participation, the quality of the commenting, the interaction and learning that transpired via this classroom blog and the 365 Project makes Mrs. Yollis beam with pride.

Not only are her students and their family members becoming superior writers, but they are also honing important digital skills like how to communicate and contribute on line, how to limit personal information on the Internet, and how to develop a dynamic digital footprint. (To hone is a fancy verb that means to improve over time.)

Mrs. Yollis would like to personally thank all the parents and family members for their constant support.Your participation is the key to your child's educational success!

  1. Dear Mrs Yollis,

I had a really fun time with my family yesterday.
It was the first night of Hanukah, and my grandparents had a party. My cousins came and so did my other grandma and aunt and uncle. We ate latkes and jelly donuts. Those are traditional foods for Hanukah. We lit candles in the menorah. First I lit the Shamash, or leader candle, and then I used it to light the candle for the first night. Tonight we will light 2 candles.

Some other things we did are singing, playing dreidel, and opening presents. I had a great time with my family.

Sadly, one of my cousins was sick and passed it on to me. I spent today resting at home so I can come back to school healthy tomorw.

How was your wekeeknd? Will you tell me some of what your family does on the hoidays?

    Your friend,

    Ari

  2. Dear Mrs Yollis,

I think Family Blogging Month is a great idea because everybody in your family can blog and maybe some cousins can also join.

My sister did some comments, my dad did one, and I did a lot on the 365 Blog.

I was very surprised about how many comments there were on the Classroom Blog.

I love having the Classroom Blog because sometimes I post on this Blog instead of the 365 Blog.

Do you like the Classroom Blog?

    Your Student,
    Keya

  3. Dear Mrs. Yollis,
I was really excited to win first place in family blogging month. Although it wasn't just because of me. My family from all over the world contributed. My uncle commented from Qatar. He is in the air force. My dad and mom commented often too, and so did my brother. I had many cousins, aunts and uncles comment from Spain, Germany, Taiwan and from the east coast. Of course, I did the most blogging because it is my classroom's blog. For winning, the winner receives a free kids' meal to a local restaurant, a crown, and a free post. I bet my family was happy for me too.

When I first started blogging with you, Mrs. Yollis, it wasn't my favorite thing to do. Now, I love it. One of the great things about blogging is that you can write about whatever you want to. I want to thank you for setting up the blog contest. I have never done something like this before, and the best part was reading what everyone from around the world wrote. One encouraged me to work hard. She said sometimes school may not be fun but it gets easier the harder you work. Many said they loved reading our blog and all the comments. Also, one told me about Taipei where there a lot of good places to dine for dinner. I really want to go soon.

I hope you enjoyed the month as much as I did. What did you love about it?

    Happy blogging!
    Love,
    Abigail
