One of her college assignments was to interview her mentor. I am her mentor.

Below is the interview Ms. Neumeyer conducted.

Notice she used open questions. Open questions are questions that cannot be answered YES or NO. Closed questions can be answered with a yes or no.

Here are some examples:

Closed question - "Do you like teaching?" The answer is yes or no.
Open question - "When did you first begin to use technology in the classroom?" The question requires a full answer.

Ms. Neumeyer is the interviewer; she asks the questions.
I am the interviewee; I answer the questions.

Have you ever been been part of an interview?

Were you the interviewer or the interviewee?

Do you have any additional questions?

  1. Dear Mrs. Yollis and Ms. Neumeyer,

The whole video really brought out both of your personalities. I have been in class with Mrs. Yollis for two years now so I know her pretty well. I have only known Ms. Nuemeyer for three months. I can say that the video was pretty grand both ways.

Ms. Nuemeyer, are you enjoying having Mrs. Yollis as a mentor? I know I am enjoying her for my third grade teacher :-)!

    Warmly,

    Peter

    1. Dear Peter,

I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and I agree the interview did show both of our personalities. Could you tell I was a little nervous? This was the first time I had interviewed someone on Google Hangout.

I have definitely enjoyed having Mrs. Yollis as my mentor, she has taught me a lot about using technology in the classroom! She is also a very nice person.

      All the best,
      Ms. Neumeyer

  2. @ Mrs. Yollis,

To answer your question I have interviewed someone. I was the interviewer, but I was never the interviewee. The hard part of being an interviewee is you have to say something interesting. If you don't, and the interviewer puts what you said in a newspaper people will not read it. Interviewing is hard, but it is fun to do.

Have you ever been the interviewer?

    Sincerely,
    D♠niel

  3. Hi Daniel,

Who have you interviewed before? What was the interview for? I have been the interviewee quite a few times when I have been looking for jobs. You are right interviewees have to think of interesting answers, but interviewers most also think of good questions.

    Al the best,
    Ms. Neumeyer

  4. Ms. Neumeyer and Mrs. Yollis,

This video brought me back to my days of student teaching (which were not too long ago)! It was very interesting seeing the interview take place through Google Hangout. I just used it for the first time a few weeks ago for my graduate class and it takes some getting used to. Ms. Neumeyer, I was very happy you asked Mrs. Yollis if other teachers at her school have blogs. My school is quite behind with technology, but I would still love to start a class blog and have other teachers in my building participate as well. You are both inspiring!

    Sincerely,
    Ms. Byron
