  1. Dear Mrs Yollis,

Ya!! our computer is working so far. I am writing to you to say just how wonderful it is that you won these wonderful awards.
Whats ever more wonderful is you winning The Lifetime Achievement Award well done.
    You deserve this!!

The best thing that I have learned though blogging is the wonderful friendships that have been formed.

Keep up the great work Mrs Yollis.
    From your blogging buddy AA.

    Dear Mrs Yollis,

    Glad you won three awards.
You deserve it because of all the hard work you put into your blog.

I have learned no matter how far you are in the world you can work together and collabrate.

I think blogging and learning is wonderful because you comment on each others blogs and you get different ideas from other bloggers.

    From blogging friend down under,
    Bianca.

  2. Dear Mrs Yollis and Grade 3
'First RunnerUp' - what an achievement.
You have all done so well with your blogging.

I really enjoyed watching your video and I can't wait to show it to my B4 children in February.
Most of this year's class will be with me again, so they will be pleased to see their 'old' friends.

Your video tips will be helpful for us to look at when our new year starts, to remind the children of good blogging practice.

    @ AA and Bianca,

I agree, the best thing about blogging is the friendships! Here we are friends in separate hemispheres! Love it! Thank you too for your kind words about the awards. I hope the attention encourages more teacher to consider having a classroom blog.

And Bianca, I agree! No matter how far away you are...we can all work together and collaborate! So true!

Thank you so much for the special Christmas cards you sent! I shared mine with my class today so everyone got to enjoy it. My mom is still in the hospital and will be so cheered up by your thoughtful card! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Looking forward to reading more posts from you, Bianca! You are great!

    Your pal,

    Dear Mrs. M♔Kenzie,

Thank you so much for your congratulations!

That will be great that you'll have so many of the same students next year. It will be fun to reconnect the classes. As you can see, your rural community is quite memorable for us!

Glad you liked the tips in the video. We learn so much from one another in our blogging community.

    Merry Christmas!

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

    Dear Mr. C., (from Missouri)

Thank you so much for your kind words about our Blogging is Learning video. After we won the award, we talked about what kind of a movie we could make to celebrate. I mentioned that it might be a good idea to share about what makes blogging so great and why we ♥ it so much.

The students came up with all the categories and details/examples. Then they wrote the script, and I filmed them! I am so proud of what they are learning and how confident they are becoming as mini-ambassadors for blogging! You and I both know, it is powerful learning!

I also wanted to personally thank you for creating the Comments4Kids blog. It is a great place for connecting students and teachers. When kids publish a piece of writing, it is so helpful to have a way of linking them with readers. Well done Mr. C.!

I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

    Dear Mrs. Yollis,

    ♥ ★ ♥ ★ ♥ ★ ♥ ★ ♥ ★ ♥ ★ ♥ ★

I had a wonderful time blogging and skyping with all the different countries and continents around the world. One thing I like about blogging is that I was able to meet people from all around the world. I also like receiving replies to my comments. It would really be nice to someday meet the people I blog with in person.

What a great idea!!! I thought that the video was well thought out and perfect!! My favorite thing about blogging is learning and watching and reading the new posts.

  11. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I love blogging! My favorite part about blogging is checking new posts and leaving comments. I like video posts the best but I mainly like posts because you can learn math, science, reading and writing better. I like writing and seeing comments because you get to share your own ideas for people to see and you can see what people in other places are thinking. People in other places can also share new information.

    @ Sam L.. (in Mr. Salsich's class)

Thank you so much for visiting and for your congratulations! It feels great to be part of such a fantastic list of educational bloggers! Winning is wonderful, but to me the real winning comes from all the fabulous friendships we've made with people. Congratulations to you and your class! I ♥ learning right along with all of you!

@ Emmett, (in Mr. Salsich's class)

I am so happy that you enjoyed our movie, Blogging is Learning! Through our blogs, we get to learn so much! For example, from your blog we learned how to use a number line to subtract! Learning can happen anywhere and at any time! I ♥ it!

I share your feelings about blogging. Every time I visit a blog post, I learn something new. For example, I learned how to have a synonym/simile snowball fight from all of you!

What kinds of topics will you be covering when you start your blog?

    Happy Holidays!

I think we really deserved the first runner up for Best Class Blog. Our blog is absolutely amazing and we really deserve the prize.

I thought that maybe we would be the winner for Best Class Blog but I didn't expect much. We were competing against a high school blog. Wow!

I am overjoyed to get first runner up for Best Class Blog and have my teacher be the Lifetime Achievement winner. What an honor!

We are a very lucky class.

  16. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I loved our video. I hope many people get inspired in blogs and maybe get there own blog. You totally deserved the awards because of your hard work and all your effort in the blog. Like we said in the video, blogging is learning. From blogging, I learned how to type and about grammar, puncutation, capitalization, vocabulary, spelling, and reading. I think blogging is so stupendous and exciting because you get to type a comment on the inernet rather than writing on a sheet of paper.
I could not have been such an outstanding student without you, Mrs. Yollis. The blog will help us with everything you teach us and I will learn so much through blogging. Your teaching explains why we won three awards. Each comment helps you on your skills tremendously! Another thing I adore about blogging is that your comments are on the world wide internet! You can post comments on so many blogs and the whole world can see your exellent skills. You really deserved the awards. Keep up the good work!

    Warmly,
    Ryan

You guys have an awesome blog!!! Keep up the awesome work! You are amazing.
Blogging makes learning more fun because you get to use technology and you can relate it to math by adding up your visitors from other coountrys to get your total amount!!

Also you can tie it into literacy by making good quality comments!!..Which your class is really good at!!

    Bye for now,

Yes, it was a real thrill for us to be so honored with the awards! I'm hoping that other teachers will see the value in blogging and will start one!

How is your blog coming along? I can't wait to see it!

    @ Roman (Classroom Connection)

Thanks for your kind words about our blog. I have visited your site many times and I think it is terrific. In particular, I like all the videos you make to share your learning. Good stuff!

    @ Ryan,

Wow! Thank you for all the thought you put into your comment! You are very kind!

One of the things that I liked in your comment was From blogging, I learned how to type and about grammar, punctuation, capitalization, vocabulary, spelling, and reading. You know, the more you practice the better you become. You keep up the great work too! :-)

    @ Kaitlyn, (Classroom Connection)

You are so kind with your terrific comment! I love how you use a lot of HTML in your comments! Very advanced!

Another thing I like about your comments is that you give specific details. Like you said you can use blogging for math skills and then you explained how you can add up the visitors.

I left you a comment on your math video. :-)

    @ Kaitlyn,
You are welcome! I enjoy all of the learning posts on your class blog! Like you, my heart warms right up when I see a thoughtful comment from a reader. Lots of people view our blog, and we certainly appreciate their readership, but not everyone takes the time to leave a comment. So a big thank you goes out to all of our commenters. :-)

I noticed that you tried to leave your class blog in a hyperlink. Good for you! Unfortunately, it did not link. Here is a link to a video I made to help bloggers make a hyperlink in the comment section.

Video: How to Create Hyperlinks in a Comment Using HTML

The video is at the bottom of the post.

It involves leaving a document open on your desktop with the HTML hyperlink code ready to use. Maybe that will work for you! :-)

    @ Mr. Avery,

Thank you for your kind congratulations! We all love to learn and I'm glad our hard work shows.

I have been watching the news reports in your part of the United States and it has been an incredible winter so far! How many inches of snow have you received? What is typical for your area?

I love your class blog and added it to our blog roll!

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

  22. Mrs. Yollis,

Thank you for adding us to your blogroll. We're really just starting to get our blog up and running so we appreciate the support! It's great that we have examples such as yours to help us out.

We've actually lucked out with the snow so far. We didn't get hit near as badly as some of the other areas around us! We're close enough to the coast that we draw in some of the warm air and often when others are getting snow, we're getting rain. Typically we'll get about half a foot of snow each month with bigger storms dropping 2 or 3 feet of snow on us. We probably won't see grass for another month or so! How has the weather been out by you? I know you got all that rain last week!

    Sincerely,
    Mr. Avery
