Maori Raukau Stick Game ~ Thanks Room 8@Melville School!

Mrs. Yollis' class loves to learn new things.

Here is the Maori Stick Game we learned from our friends in Room 8@Melville Int. School in New Zealand.

First, we watched their tutorial below.

We practiced and practiced.

We're not perfect, but we've had a good time!

What did you think of the game?

Have you ever played?

  2. Dear Mrs Yollis and students,
how wonderful I really loved watching you play the Maori Raukau Stick Game even with the giggles.
You all did a great job. I was wondering do the sticks have to be a certain length?
Bianca and I will have to play this game over the school break and see if we can get as good as you guys.
When I was at school we used to plays games slapping and clapping ours hands together with another person and singing at the same time.
Thanks for a playful post I really have enjoyed watching it
from your friend down under AA>

  3. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I have never played this game before.
It looks like a very challenging and fun game.I would like to try it as soon as I get the sticks. It seems it's easy, but I'm sure in order to do it right, needs lot of practice and concentration.
Thanks to Mr. Webb and Room 8 for sharing your game with us.
