Sing-a-long: Mr. B. and 3 Rs Song

Mrs. Yollis' class from California is friends with Mr. Salsich's class in Connecticut. These classes are blogging buddies and Skyped back in November.

On Friday, the two classes got together to share about their paperless classroom experiences  which you can read about here and here.

The classes also enjoyed singing some songs with Mr. B.

Three it's a magic number
Yes it is, it's a magic number
Because two times three is six
And three times six is eighteen
And the eighteenth letter in the alphabet is R
We've got three R's we're going to talk about today
We've got to learn to
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
If you're going to the market to buy some juice
You've got to bring your own bags and you learn to reduce your waste
And if your brother or your sister's got some cool clothes
You could try them on before you buy some more of those
Reuse, we've got to learn to reuse
And if the first two R's don't work out
And if you've got to make some trash
Don't throw it out
Recycle, we've got to learn to recycle,
We've got to learn to
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Because three it's a magic number
Yes it is, it's a magic number
3, 3, 3
3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36
33, 30, 27, 24, 21, 18, 15, 12, 9, 6, and
3, it's a magic number

We then enjoyed singing This Land is Your Land and You're a Grand Old Flag.

At the end, Mr. Salsich's class sang a solo with Mr. B.

Mr. Salsich's students were on the Atlantic coast and Mr. B. was on the Pacific coast.

It was difficult because of a slight Skype delay. But they did it!

The two classes enjoyed discussing what they liked about the paperless day:

  • Both classes enjoyed using the whiteboards instead of paper.

  • A student from Mr. Salsich's class liked that there was no noise from a pencil sharpener all day!

Thank you to our scribes (Sydney, Jaxon, Kendall,  and Ben) and our photographer. (Ethan)

What did you like about the connection?

How did you like singing together from opposite coasts?

  1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I thought having music with Mrs. Ranney's class and Mr. Salsich's class was really fun because Mr. B. had to play the guitar fast and slow because there was a one second delay.

My favorite part about it was meeting Mr. Salsich's class because they were in lots of movies and we got to recognize them and their voices. I thought it was really funny how Matteo said, " That makes me really happy!" because he was Perezoso in the sloth video and we remembered him.

    Sincerely,
    Nick

    P.S. Great Post!

  3. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

It was fun singing with Mr. B, Mrs. Ranney's class and Mr. Salsich's class. It's amazing how with skpe we can sing a song from different borders. My favorite part was when Mr. B kind of slowed the song down.

I loved singing with the opposite sides of the U.S. It was kind of funny that there was a slight delay and Mr. B had to speed up and slow down. I hope we do that again.

I loved singing with Mr. B. My favorite song we sang was "You're a Grand Old Flag". When we sang "3rs" with Mr. B it was different than when we sang with just our class because the song sounded different. Did you enjoy singing with Mr. B and Mr. Salsich?

  11. Dear Mrs. Yollis' Class,

What another great educational and socialization experience for the class! I wish I had Skype back when I was in 3rd grade, but I feel like I'm learning new experiences along with your class. Thank you for sharing. The 3Rs Song has been a catchy tune sung around in our home as well. As a parent, I thank you Mr. B.!

Ethan, I'm so proud of you son that you were the photographer. What a neat and new experience for you! It's always wonderful for me to see you try new things. I love you and continue to encourage you to do so!

  15. Dear Mrs. Yollis' Class and Mr. B,

I had a fantastic experience skyping with all of you on Friday! my favorite part was finally meeting all the brilliant students that leave such wonderful comments on our blog.

Not only are your commenting skills amazing, but your singing is equally impressive. It was great singing the 3 Rs song together, and also the other two that everyone knew already. Mr. B did an amazing job changing his speed to make up for the slight delay.

All in all, it was a great experience and I hope we can skype again sometime soon.

    Your friend and fan,
