    @ Aryana,

I love your enthusiasm! You got right on this problem. Good for you!

Although your answer to Nic's problem is correct, you have made an error with your five digit expanded form.

Once you have found your error, please publish it! You will be able to help others learn.

Also, I challenge you to spell every word correctly! Watch for red lines and have a parent proofread.

    Your new teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

  28. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I have a favorite number of mine:

    Standard Form: 999,999,999,999
    Expanded Form: 900,000,000,000 + 90,000,000,000 + 9,000,000,000 + 900,000,000 + 90,000,000 + 9,000,000 + 900,000 + 90,000 + 9,000 + 900 + 90 + 9
Word Form: Nine hundred ninety-nine billion, nine hundred ninety-nine million, nine hundred ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred ninety-nine

My number was pretty big, but even in the start of fourth grade, we have gone beyond this number. We have learned exponents, and that's where the number has a little number next to it. If it had a 10 and a little 2 next to it, you would say, ten to the power of two. You might think it would be twenty, but it's actually one hundred because the little number is what how many times you should multiply the bigger number. That means it would be 10 x 10 which is one hundred! This might be confusing, but you will learn it in fourth grade.

    Sincerely,
    Heather
