Human ClustrMap of Africa!

This week, Mrs. Yollis' class will be in Africa!

Well, not really. They will be on
National Geographic's Giant Traveling Map of Africa!

Today, the class recreated the ClustrMap from our blog.

Here is our human ClustrMap!

How did you like your first day in Africa?

What activity did you enjoy the most?

Which country was easy to find? Which country was difficult to locate?

  1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I loved my first day in Africa and can't wait to go back! I had been looking forward to the map's visit to our school for a while now.

My favorite game was when we had to locate the countries. The hardest country for me to find was Rwanda even though it was right next to Uganda! The easiest one for me to locate was Uganda!

    Your student,
    Hannah★

  2. Dear Mrs Yollis' class,

I just ♥ your human Clustrmap. You are lucky to have the giant travelling maps. I don't think we have anything like these in Australia!

2KM and 2KJ enjoyed learning more about the African continent during our Ugandan project, as I'm sure you all did too!

Here are some interesting African facts

★ Africa is the second largest continent on Earth.

★ Sudan is the largest country in Africa (you may have heard that there is a vote going on at the moment to decide whether to split Sudan into two countries)

★ The highest mountain is Mount Kilimanjaro, the largest lake is Lake Victoria and the longest river is the River Nile.

    Does anyone know...
★ What is the largest continent on Earth?

★ What is the smallest country in Africa?

★ What is the name of the largest hot desert in Africa (and the world)?

    Your blogging buddy,
    Mrs Morris :)

  3. Dear Mrs. Yollis' class,

Your giant ClustrMap of Africa is phenomenal! What a great way to connect your blogging to the traveling National Geographic map.

You are going to have so much fun exploring the continent, and I am going to have fun following your learning through your blog. Make sure you "visit" Mosi-oa-tunya, Addis Ababa, and Timbuktu for me.

I wonder if anyone can tell me what country Conakry is the capital of?

    Your blogging buddy,
    Sheriff Salsich

  4. Dear Mrs Yollis and students,

How wonderful to have a huge ClustrMap of Africa.
I bet you could see what and just how really wonderful the country of Africa is.

Adding to Mrs Morris facts I do know that the Mount Kilimanjaro is an extinct volcano, however there are still at least nine other active volcanoes.
Much part of the northern Africa is desert. The Sahara Desert is not a flat desert.

    Great work everyone.
    From your blogging buddy,
    AA.

  6. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

My favorite game is locate the countries because you have to find the country on your card and if you don't know were it is your team will say north, south east or west. I have some questions for you.what was your favorite game and what is your favorite country on the map?

  7. Dear Mrs.Yollis,

When you took the picture it looks a lot like we are bordering Africa. The trip was awesome. I walked the Nile River, and I got confused because I didn't know if the White Nile and the Blue Nile were on the right direction. I picked the Blue Nile by accident, not knowing that I was going the wrong way at the end.
I am so glad that we found out later on the correct answer! I can't wait until we go on another trip to Africa!

    Nicolas

  10. @Mr. Salsich,

I really enjoyed learning and walking on Africa. I know the answer to your question.
