  1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,
How impressive is your presentation and your video and what you have brought to the kids to understand North America in a physical way. Latitude and longitude and your students actually walked through the entire map. Very very impressive. Thank you for going the long route so my son doesn't forget.
"Los Angeles" Richie way to go.

    Warmest Regards,
    Aussie (Richie's mom)

  2. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I think we live in a safe and fabulous place! I would never want to change where I live.

I have a question about the voice-overs. Did you want another voice-over?

    Your blogging buddy,
    Kayla :)

  3. @ Aussie (Richie's mom),

Thank you so much for your compliment about our video. Having that map for a week was a real gift! Getting to walk the lines of latitude and longitude really bring the concepts together for students. Having filmed the lessons make for lasting memories and learning. :-)

I also thought that Richie's narration was excellent!

    @ Kayla,

I agree with you. We live in a safe, fabulous place! You asked me if I wanted another voice-over. No, I was very happy with the way mine turned out!

  4. Hi Mrs. Yollis,
Most of the fish that I catch are perch and brook trout. We don't have a catch and release where I fish which is in streams around my area. I think it would be fun to go fly fishing especially in Montana or Alaska. I have wanted to go to Alaska for a long time. Thanks you visiting my site and complimenting me. 5. @ Patrick,

Thanks for visiting our class blog and leaving information about the fish you catch in your area of North America.

My husband and I enjoy being in nature and especially like to fish. Here are two travel posts from our classroom blog that you might enjoy.

One is about a summer fishing trip we took way up north in the Arctic Circle.

    Visit the Arctic Circle!

Here is another one about fishing on Kodiak Island in Alaska. There are videos on that post. You will get to see Kodiak grizzly bears fishing!

    Kodiak Bears in Alaska!

    I hope you enjoy them!

I'll post this comment on your blog just in case you miss it here.

  6. Dear Mrs. Yollis,
I loved the North American presentation. It inspired me to look up my location.

I live in Chicago, Illinois right on Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes. My latitude is 41 N and longitude is 87 W.

It would be very interesting to see how the average temperature of different regions are affected by latitudes and longitudes. Does everyone who live at 34 N (Los Angeles) have similar weather?

    Regards,

  7. Dear Mrs. Yollis.

My name is Mrs. Longo and I was a 4th grade teacher for 40 years. I taught World Geography. My daughter, Elena, showed me your website and I especially loved this video of North America made by your incredible 3rd grade students!

This is truly a tremendous opportunity for children to learn of their world. Thank you for sharing this with me. This video has made me very happy.....a wonderful way to teach and learn. There is no better way for children to learn than in a hands-on environment like you created. I am so grateful for the teachers of today and their reaching out so that children will know their world and enjoy it! I hope to meet you one day and compliment you on the things that you are teaching personally. Keep up the good work you are doing and the memories you are giving the young people of today by providing them a knowledge of this wonderful and extraordinary world we live in. I have traveled from from the North to the South Pole and circled the globe many times, visiting over 160 countries along the way.

It's a beautiful world (filled with beautiful people) that wait for you to visit and enjoy!

    With much love and encouragement,

    Mrs. Stella Longo

  8. @ Toni, (Scarlet's Nana)

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment! I especially like that you shared your latitude and longitude.

I will speak the class about your question about latitude/longitude and weather.

    :-)

    @ Mrs. Longo,

What a pleasure to have a fellow teacher visit our blog! Wow! Forty years of teaching is quite a legacy of service. I'm sure I will be teaching for a long period of time as well. I love helping children learn, just like you!

Thank you for your kind comments about our North America video. I agree, there is no better way than to have a hands-on experience.

You mentioned that you have circled the globe numerous times. That is a dream of mine. I really love to travel and learn about new places and people. Of all the countries that you visited, which ones were most memorable? My students and I would love to know!

I would like to meet you too! It would be fun to get together and talk about teaching and traveling. Let's make that happen!

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Yollis

  9. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

On the Great lakes post I was Lake Michigan. I enjoyed doing the blog post on Great Lakes because I thought it was fun. What do you enjoy about the Great Lakes?
