When I heard you had ...Dear Mrs. Yollis and Class,

When I heard you had made an audio book of a scary story, I thought I might need a teddy bear nearby in case I was scared but, as I read, I decided a teddy bear might be too much like Bev. Your story is brilliant!

What do you think of our story?

I was fascinated as I listened and read along with the story. The scariest part for me would have been receiving a comment that made no sense. I would probably spend much time trying to work out what had gone wrong with my computer or wondered if the comment had been written in a language my computer didn't understand. I don't think my computer can read bear. :)

What elements did you enjoy the most?

I liked the idea the giant Bev wanted to learn how to blog. Could you imagine the stories she might be able to tell from the bear's perspective?
In her version, the mean and nasty Goldilocks would have broken into their house, stole their food, broke their chairs and slept in their beds, a real case for the policebears to solve.

I also enjoyed your sound effects. The correct sound at the correct time can make the difference in a production. Imagine a movie meant to be very scary yet the sound people made a bad choice and added the song, "Barbie Girl".

What was the hardest part about writing creating this story?

A number of years back I did work on something like this with a class. I think the class found the recording of sound hardest because we had to make a number of takes before we had what we wanted. In the end, they loved the production but I no longer have a copy as it was nearly 30 years ago.

I must say your story sounded brilliant. :)

Keep on blogging. You posts are always interesting.

@RossMannell
Teacher, NSW, Australiarmannellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10325881715643049499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2633466533683944100.post-64794035118928856412012-06-08T07:25:22.242-07:002012-06-08T07:25:22.242-07:00Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I like how you included your favorite parts of the story and gave specific examples. I thought everyone did a wonderful job with their parts. Each reader was so fluent and expressive.

Your reflection about the part that was difficult was good too. I think that it goes very well with the story. Making this story also helped me realize how hard it must be to make a movie. At the end of this project, I was very happy that I raised my hand to have a part in the script.

Did you enjoy recording, editing, and proofreading the project?

Sincerely,
AlexandraAlexandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15266227648880131527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2633466533683944100.post-85331722689082610642012-06-07T20:11:21.884-07:002012-06-07T20:11:21.884-07:00Dear Mrs Yollis and class,

The story was extremely entertaining and humorous.

The five parts of the story that we most enjoyed were
- The juicy language and alliterations you used.
- The expressive reading and sound effects.
- Beverly’s lack of commenting skills.
- The name choices – especially Bianca, Alma and Ross!
- The clever ending where Panda revealed his identity.

We were wondering how Beverly’s commenting skills are coming along now?

Your blogging buddies from down under,
4KM and 4KJAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2633466533683944100.post-46491065291076479862012-06-07T19:49:09.168-07:002012-06-07T19:49:09.168-07:00@ Maya,

I can't believe we came up ...Dear Mrs. Yollis,

I can't believe we came up with such a great story within two days! I found the story humorous, interesting, and hopefully inspiring to other bloggers. Panda's strange voice, the descriptive writing, and the connection to Dogzilla made for a terrific story.

My favorite part of the story is when Panda flew in and said, "Beverly stop your madness." Another line of Panda's I got a kick out of was, "Beverly I am your father", that cracked me up.

In my opinion the hardest part of creating the story was having the story break down, or not work more than once. We adapted and persevered until we accomplished creating the story.

I hope next year you create another story like this with your new third grade class!

Sincerely,
RexonWhitneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17111474708988309508noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2633466533683944100.post-43384015538722855002012-06-07T19:34:41.756-07:002012-06-07T19:34:41.756-07:00@ Mrs. Duray,
