I read your post and enjoyed the creativity of the math lesson. I'm sure the students had a blast with the ghost and spooky spiders. I was a Barbie for Halloween. I absolutely love dressing up for Halloween, makes me feel like a kid again! I hosted a Halloween party at my house with friends and family. We participated in many games, bobbing for apples was exciting.
Did your class participate in any Halloween activities? I got 131 candies and my sister got 142 candies.
I have a question: " Where did you go trick or treating?" I went to Santa Monica at Montana Avenue and 25th street. I like there a lot. There were great decrations and people wore awesome costumes. I was a chain-saw man with a hockey mask, my mom wore a Devil costum, my dad wore Jailbird con and my sister wore Wenda costum (Waldo's girlfriend). I made the chain-saw from a cardboard all by myself. I hope everyone had a fun day trick or trea...@class
I hope everyone had a fun day trick or treating yesterday. I was a genie for Halloween.

The history channel had a program about the origin of trick or treating and I learned a lot of interesting facts.

I learned that the holiday as we know it today, is not very old. The holiday began in urban cities such as New York were children would dress up in costumes and parade around the streets begging for coins or treats, and pulling pranks when they didn't get anything. Shopkeepers would often 'buy off' these pranksters, trading some sweet snack or bread loaf for security from tricks such as soaped windows or destroyed shop signs. During the great depression in the 1930s the treats became scarce, and the tricks became vandalism. Things got out of control in the 1930s, with several brawls and acts of violence associated with Halloween pranking. To counter this, homes started to offer parties for children, as an incentive to curb vandalism. Candy and treats were offered to stop children from misbehaving on Halloween. After World war II bite-sized candy started to be manufactured and the holiday became as we know it today.

From,
Miriam and Mom.Miriamnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2633466533683944100.post-37290644832950281262010-11-01T19:06:54.646-07:002010-11-01T19:06:54.646-07:00Dear Mrs.Yollis and class,

I think the spider web was very tricky to spin! I guess I'm not part spider. I can answer Aron's problem. There are 5 columns. There are 5 rows. That makes 5x5=25. We don't have many Halloween decorations up yet because we are about to move! Our only decoration is my spider on my chandelier. I am going to be a U.S. army troop for Halloween. I have camouflaged pants. Also, I have a black shirt. I have a little strap for my cardboard knife. My dad bought me a dog tag with my phone number, my first and last name, and my address! Isn't that cool! I'm not sure yet but, my grandma might face paint my face camouflaged! It's going to be a great Halloween! I have some questions for you. Do you have any decorations up yet? What are you for Halloween? Did you carve a pumpkin?

Best Regardes,
RyanRy♥nnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2633466533683944100.post-20279874570666886702010-10-30T20:41:39.545-07:002010-10-30T20:41:39.545-07:00@ Mrs.Yollis,
