A New Year!

Panda took away the 9 in our 2009.

To make 10, we needed a new digit.

Everyone sprinkled some golden glitter and made a wish for 2010.

Panda placed the digits in the correct order.

Happy 2010!

Do you have any New Year's Resolutions?

(A resolution is firm decision to do or not do something.)

  1. My new years resoultion is to make sure that I am a regular visitor to the second best blog in the world last year and leave plenty of comments and make sure my class does the same when our holidays end in February 2010!

  3. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Spending less time on the computer is my goal for 2010. First, I am going to limit the amount of time I am online. I will set a timer for 30 minutes, and when it goes off, I will do something else. Perhaps I will go outside and ride my scooter.

If I meet this goal, 2010 will be awesome.

    Susie

  5. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

First of all, it was really fun sprinkling the glitter onto the one for 2010 and making a wish. My wish was that I would have an amazing time at my birthday. I remember we were living in the past the first day we came back from winter break, and the year was 2009. What a day that was!

I did set goals for myself, and they were in class today. The first one was to stop biting my nails, and my solution is to put clear nail polish and to get a manicure every two weeks. The second one is to show up on time to school. (But sometimes I already do that.) The way I'm going to fix that is to set my timer to 6:00 A.M., and get everything in order the night before.

    Your friend,
    Kayla

    P.S. Love the post! :)

  6. Hello Mrs Yollis' class,
Happy new year to you all and greetings from Hong Kong!

As we are on summer holidays in Australia, I am on holiday in Asia for two weeks with a group of friends. We left on Tuesday and first flew to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The flight took 8hrs and we stayed at a hotel at the airport for the night before flying to Hong Kong on Wednesday morning. That was a 4 hour flight.

It is winter here so it is quite cold compared to what we're used to. It's 15
Degrees celcius today. Hong Kong is such an interesting country! It is part of China so nearly everything is written in Chinese which makes it hard to understand restaurant menus etc!

This is only our second day here but we're learning a lot about this fascinating country and having a lot of fun! I am in a food court right now using wireless net on my phone!

I will be in touch again to tell you more about our travels!

    Take care,
    Your friend,
    Miss McGeady

  7. @ Miss McGeady,

Happy New Year to you, too! Wow! I cannot believe that you are in Hong Kong right now.

My class has been using our atlases every day this week. Tomorrow, we will be playing a new game called "Where in the World is Miss McGeady?" Last year, we had National Geographic's Giant Map of Asia at our school. Perhaps some of the students will know exactly where Hong Kong is located. We'll see!

We are also going to look up what 15˚ C is in Fahrenheit.

Thanks again and please keep us posted!

    Your friend,
    Mrs. Yollis

  8. Happy New Year to Mrs. Yollis' Class,

I am trying to keep my New Year's resolutions to a few that I may actually keep. A friend and I have decided to make 12 resolutions in 12 months (1 month each) although we may continue the onces that are successful. This month is NO FRIED FOODS. It is REALLY hard - especially when you consider all of the 'hidden' fried foods like chips and donuts and refried beans and fried rice.... But I am doing my best.

I heard there is a new student in the class. What a great resolution for everyone to make a new friend in 2010! Welcome Joleen.

    Happy New Year to all,
    Barbara

  9. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

My New Year's resolution is to get signed up for ice hockey and score a lot of goals. But before I play in a real ice hockey league, I have to pass three tests. The tests are mostly about shooting and skating. I will pass those tests.

My second New Year's resolution is to spend less time watching t.v. Before I begin watching t.v. I am going to get out a timer and set it for 30 minutes. When the timer goes off I will turn the t.v. off and do something else. I can play roller hockey in my backyard or read.

  11. Dear Mrs. Yollis,
My wish for 2010 is for everyone in my family to be healthy. I bet 2010 is going to be the best year of my life. The reason I know that is it's
been great so far. Panda did a great
job with putting the new number in
    2010.

  12. Dear Mrs.Yollis,

I love that picture of Panda taking down the nine in 2009. What I wish for when I sprinkled the sequines on the one was to my mom and dad to have the best year ever. What did you wish for?

    From,
    Kate :-)
